The Normandy invasion began on June 6th 1944 with overnight parachute and glider landings, massive air attacks, naval bombardments, an early morning landings on five beaches codenamed Juno, Gold, Omaha, Utah, and Sword and during the evening the remaining elements of the parachute divisions landed. The "D-Day" forces spread out from bases along the south coast of England. This day was the most largest invasion of all time, with over 175,000 of troops landing on the beach.
Over 195,700 allied naval and navy combats, & also in over a bit 5,000 ships were involved. The landings took placealong a 50 mile stretch of the Normandy coast divided into five sectors: Utah,Omaha,Gold,Juno, and Sword.
